Therese Theodas was born in Ayr, Scotland in 1943. Her father was French and her English mother is a talented painter.

Therese was educated in Sussex and later at Winkfield where she was influenced by Constance Spry and Rosemary Hume. At 16, she spent a year in Paris studying life drawing. This was followed by three years in India where she travelled widely including Nepal and Bhutan, returning to England full of deep admiration for the art, culture and dignity of the Indian people. Whilst in India, she undertook several commissions to mural private houses.
